Brewing Better Gongfu Cha Workshop
This is a hands on workshop with gaiwan tea brewing at the center. Shiuwen will guide participants to connect more deeply with their own strengths and weaknesses as a tea brewer, and offer a framework for building a more robust skill in gongfu cha.
Most instruction starts by introducing the concept of high leaf to water ratio and short steeps, but falls short of the heart of gongfu cha — the gongfu or the skill. Shiuwen has studied with some of the world's preeminent tea brewers, and wants to share some of the practices and techniques that have helped her gain a deeper relationship with tea brewing. Every one from beginner to advanced is welcome, and there is just one prerequisite: Please be comfortable using and pouring from a gaiwan. Shiuwen hopes this workshop can enrich your experience with tea brewing at home and for your friends.
